Original baby names have become one of the most raving trends among the naming world over the latest years. There are many resources, ideas, books and online generators at your fingertips.
Many parents seek name originality because it allows them to use their creativity for their baby. This is all fine and good because it’s a way to add a special loving touch. It must be an extra sign they do care about their child.

But, because there’s a but… originality has a cost. This drawback can be overlooked by parents until it hits them in the face later on when other people’s faces before the name (the lesser pain) and when the child will seem to “dislike” their own name internally over time – anf that’s the greater pain.
Yes, this creativity is it’s own drawback.
But, more importantly, the method you use to create a new baby name is what can make it even more hazardous. Try to picture a painter using a brush of questionable quality and some improvised painting techniques… no surprise the result won’t be good.
What have other parents been doing?
The most popular way to be creative is to play with the spelling of current names.
- Letter replacement: Cathy, Kris,
- Extra letters: Caitlyn, Christoff, Alexis,
- Fantasy spelling: Adrenalynn, Maryanne,
- The “on” trend: Ashton, Clayton, Brandon,
- Places/locations: London, Paris,
- Celebrities names: just browse the internet and see for yourself
How can you create better names?
There are some others tactics but you get the idea. This is a trend and it’s time to bring moderate and suitable source of originality without being stupid or something. OK?
You’re about to discover a new method to create unique and pretty good baby names. And it’s simple to do. And it is proven to bring exciting names. It is to do with altering the core of names you already like.
A name’s core is only the group of consonants that are necessary to build the name. It’s not the root of the name, so no need to look for any Greek or ancient etymology for a certain word. Basically, you get the core of a name by extracting the consonants in that particular order and then you apply a “pattern” you like of another name to it. I’ve told you this method is simple.
Now, here is an example:
Let’s say you like the name “Carla” and you’re considering it for your baby girl. The name’s core would be: CRL. The next step is to apply different patterns to it. The end result; are:
- Carel
- Cerel
- Carly
Pretty unique and interesting names. eh?
You can select different cores and patterns and see what suits your needs. The world is yours. Give it a try. And play with it!
